Anderson Quarter Horses

Anderson Quarter Horses
Cohocton, New York
Anderson Quarter Horses is a full service quarter horse breeding and training facility near Rochester, NY. Owners and Operators of AQH, have worked with Quarter Horses in the states of California, Arizona, and New York. Since 1976, Jerry and Susan have owned and operated "Shady Brook Farm," their beef cattle ranch, and, in 1990, established Anderson Quarter Horses. We are family owned and operated, and we provide a safe, loving environment for all our animals.

At AQH, we have a strict breeding philosophy. We breed our horses for looks, intelligence, disposition, athletic ability, style and versatility. Some of the foals become great halter horses, others terrific pleasure or performance horses, while still others make great trail horses. We pride ourselves on the all around usefulness of these show-quality family horses, many of which are destined to be winning youth horses. It is our philosophy that the American Quarter Horse continues to be bred to be the most versatile and loving animal, and to provide a safe and healthy environment while at AQH.

Services Offered
Training AQH Offers stallion services; professional horse training in Western, English, and Pleasure Driving with a specialty in Reining; riding instruction for youth and adults, both inexperienced and advanced, as well as rehabilitation for fearful riders and problem-solving with retraining for difficult horses; boarding and horse sales.

William T. Hamilton is the resident trainer at AQH. Bill’s philosophy that “no horse needs a stronger bit, the rider just needs better hands,” and his belief that the rider must be “as kind as possible, yet only as firm as necessary” has led him to often tell a student to “leave your spurs at home.” Ask simply, reinforce kindly, and spend time “reading your horse” are basic principles that Bill uses in helping his students, and clients, develop successful and long lasting relationships with their horses.
