Family Farm

Family Farm
Wimberley, Texas
Do you have a horse that you can't afford or don't have the time to give the attention it deserves? Have you tried to sell it and had no luck??

Give your horse the best possible opportunity to live every day of the rest of it's life, spoiled rotten!

We will adopt your horse and find it an absolutely fantastic, loving home with a family that can give it the kid of care and attention it deserves. All we ask is that the horse is not too old, current coggins negative, and in decent health.

((NO MINIATURES PLEASE))

We take horses of all disciplines, with or without registration. We take males or females, gelded or not. There are homes awaiting them right now as you read this ad.

We have 20 lush acres in the Wimberley Valley where your horse can graze and hang out with the veritable petting zoo we have here that includes 5 goats, 10 chickens, 2 bunnies, 2 geese, a couch hound and 11 fish!

We have a farrier and a trainer on standby. And our vet makes house calls!!

The pictures below are of the farm where the horses will be until a "forever home" can be found.

We have plenty of love, time and attention to give. Please feel free to call with any questions or offers.

Bright Blessings,
Shea

**************NEW SERVICE****************

Family Farm
5070 Fischer Store Road
Wimberley, Texas, 78676

Our Family Farm has recently taken on a new service designed to help bring horse lovers together with horses in need of homes.

In recent months, drought conditions around this Great State have caused water shortages that are forcing many ranchers to cut herd size. Though over 85% of Texans are not feeling the pinch of America’s economic meltdown, some are. Those people are adding to the number of horses in desperate need of homes that can afford their care.

A large number of the horses experiencing drought conditions are being sold at private, closed and even sometimes open auction at prices that we can afford. Adoption fees of horses we have taken in from individuals experiencing economic hardship, allows us enough cash flow to take in about two horses a week from auction. We can now take those horses, clean them up, nurse them back to health, and place them in loving forever homes for remarkably low costs that include current Coggins testing and up to date shots and worming.

However, the placement homes must meet strict criteria and be visited by members of our Family Farm to assess the adherence to this criteria and make certain horses are not being purchased for slaughter. For the sake of the horses, we would like to keep the turnaround time to 2 weeks or less. The horses are already facing the ordeal of hardship and leaving their home. We do not want them get attached and ground themselves here, only to have to leave again a few months down the road. So please do not ask us to hold horses for a time period exceeding two weeks. It is our goal to make certain the horses have a smooth transition to a forever home that can not only afford their care and upkeep but that can house them adequately on 4 or more acres.

For families getting their first horse, we will offer a variety of packages including shipping, feeders, food, watering troughs, halters and lead ropes. Horses will be varied in skill level and training. They will not all have registration papers. The price range on horses and packages will vary and will start as low as $350.00. The price will increase according to registration, training and package content.

It takes less than a dollar a day to adequately feed and water a horse. Hoof trimming is done about once every 5 to 6 weeks and costs roughly $35.00. Many homes that can afford horses simply can’t afford the high price of buying a horse from a breeder. It’s our hope that this program, run side by side with our efforts to take in horses from individuals who can’t afford them or do not have time for them, will help bring people and horses together.

Contact us today and we’ll get started finding a perfect equine match for you.
