I offer barrel racing and pole bending training for horses that are already started under saddle. I can start them from the beginning on the patterns and take them all the way to hauling to different arenas to start the finishing out process. I can also finish one that is already started on the pattern. I can also start your horse on cattle work, which will include tracking and cutting work as well as working with a rope. I can start horses for mounted shooting as well which will include pattern work and basic riding skills. If you provide the gun and ammo, I will also start them acclimating to that. I also work with youngsters (weanlings, yearlings) to halter break and gentle them. This will include lounging, leading, tying, loading in a trailer, picking up feet, grooming, and general handling. I offer refresher courses for horses that are broke to ride but have had time off and need a refresh on riding. I can also trick train horses. I have taught horses how to bow, lay down, hug, and even pick up bottles and throw them away. (Please note: some horses are much more inclined to be taught tricks than others. If your horse is naturally outgoing, curious, and willing, it will be much more likely that he/she will pick up on tricks well.) I am also happy to just put miles and wet saddle blankets on horses that just need time under saddle.
I have over 14 years of experience in training horses. I use traditional and natural horsemanship training techniques. I keep up to date on new ideas and techniques through clinics, programs, and publications. I believe in teaching a horse to be a willing partner, not using pain or fear to teach. I do lots of ground work and make sure the foundation is right before riding them and when I ride them, I take it at the pace that they are able to learn. I never force them to do something they aren't ready for. I will discipline them if they need it but only so they understand and never in a way that is detrimental to the learning process.
Pricing varies according to each situation and training goals but always includes board and one free lesson for the owner at the end of the training period. Weather permitting, I train at least 5-6 days per week and on average for at least 1 hour a day. The horses get Sundays off for rest. If I miss a day due to weather, it is added on at the end at no extra charge.
