Lou Cummings has become the heart and soul of Confederate Farms Stables for over 25 plus years after attending Meredith Manor International Equine College. She is an experienced showmanship and pleasure rider and horse trainer in both the English and Western disciplines. Here this wonderful and patient woman will guide your horse or pony with a gentle and quiet hand into succeeding as a wonderful mount for yourself or any rider. Through positive reinforcement, mutual trust, and solid communication each will learn gradually to become soft and responsible to the rider. Lou Cummings, along with her daughter Kerry Simpkins, specializes in rescues, off the track, gaited and non-gaited, young, the finished and "problem" horses of all breeds and temperaments through natural horsemanship. Without the use of spurs and a harsh bit, they will help you get more out of your horse and pony and in the end have a wonderful partner for whichever discipline you choose.
All horses and ponies are trained first on the ground to ensure a trusting relationship that enables them to respond softly and gradually introducing a rider's weight bareback as the saddle and mild bit is slowly introduced. Along the way your horse and pony will learn how to properly take on its surroundings in a positive way. This enables the mount to be well rounded and accepting without any stress. From here with whichever the owner chooses the mount can learn the basics of cues and later the discipline of choice.
